ASUU Begins Nationwide Indefinite Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has declared an indefinite strike following the expiration of its two weeks warning strike over the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System and the non-implementation of the 2009 agreement.

This is coming after the National Universities Commission ordered universities across the country to close for a month, beginning from March 23, due to the outbreak of coronavirus.

The indefinite strike was announced by the National President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi at a press briefing in its National Secretariat, Abuja. According to him, the government failed to address the issues raised, hence the strike action which takes effect from March 23, 2020.

Recall that the Union had on 9th March declared a two-week warning strike which elapsed Monday 23 March.
