JAMB Postpones Post-UTME screening exercise for 2020/2021 session

JAMB has asked universities, polytechnic, and Colleges of education to suspend their Post-UTME screening exercise for the 2020/2021 session until further notice. Recall that JAMB had earlier directed that all Post-UTME screening exercise should commence from November 18th, 2020. However, screening may no longer commence on that date.

The announcement for the postponement of the 2020 Post-UTME screening exercise was contained in a letter from JAMB to heads of various tertiary institutions.

According to JAMB, this is to enable NECO to conclude their exams and release the results so candidates who intend to use the results for 2020 admission will have the opportunity to do so.

NECO had earlier announced the postponement of some of its exams due to protest and unrest in various parts of the country.

We have provided the full details of the letter from JAMB to various heads of tertiary institutions below;

“Kindly refer to the agreement reached at the meeting held between the JAMB Registrar and all Heads of Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria on 10th of August, 2020. You will recall that It was resolved that unless where extremely necessary, all Post UTME screenings were to be held after the 18th of November when NECO examinations would have been concluded.

It has however come to the knowledge of the Board that NECO has postponed one of its examinations which may eventually affect the release of results, and these results are expected to be considered in the screening. In addition, when a new date is decided for the postponed examination, it may clash with some of the screening dates already decided to come up immediately after the 18th of November. Added to this challenge is the current security situation in the country.

In view of the foregoing, the Board advises all Heads of Institutions, and especially the public institutions, who had earlier scheduled their Post UTME to come up immediately after 18th November to kindly suspend the plan to a later date to be decided after the conclusion of NECO examinations. This will give all candidates equal opportunity to attend the screening, for fairness and justice.

Please accept the assurances of the highest regard of the Registrar.

Dr Halilu Bakori Mohammed,

Director For Admissions,
Registrar”
