Report has it that the Academic Staff Union Of University (ASUU) Ebonyi State University, (EBSU) chapter last Monday embarked on an indefinite strike action to show displeasure over unmet demands.
Some of the issues borders on promotion of staff, reduction of salaries by the state government, unnecessary elongation of VC’s tenure among others.
According to the chairman of the union, Prof Ndubuisi Ideniyi, the union approached the management of the institution to find a way to resolve the issues and prevent the strike action but the management is yet to do anything meaningful towards that which has led to the union’s decision to embark on an indefinite strike.
He further mentioned that the union is not ready to call of the strike, until their demands are met in full adding that the union is not be threatened by No work, No pay, threat from the state government.
