LASU 21st Convocation Ceremony Events and Information To Graduating Students

The Lagos State University, LASU 21st Convocation Ceremony Events and information to graduating students have been made available.

The Vice- Chancellor, Professor Olanrewaju Adigun Fagbohun, on behalf of the management and staff of the university, invites parents/guardians and the public to the ceremony which holds as follows:

A.) Day 1 – Thursday, 16th March, 2017
Convocation Press Conference:
Venue: 3-in- I Conference Hall, Faculty of Education, Ojo, Lagos
Time: 10:00am

B.) Day 2 – Friday, 17th March, 2017
Special Jumat Service:
Venue: University Mosque, Ojo,
Time: 1:00pm

C.) Day 3 – Sunday, 19th March, 2017
3.) Special Thanksgiving Service:
Venue: University Chapel (Chapel of Light), Ojo, Lagos
Time: 10:00am prompt

D.) Day 4 – Monday, 20th March, 2017
4.) Coconut Breaking Festival:
Venue: Badagry Gate Entrance,
Time: 9:30am prompt
5.) Command Performance by the Department of Theatre Arts and Music:
Convocation Play Title: “The Spirit of Lagos” Written by Prof. Akinwunmi Ishola & directed by Dr. Sola Fosudo

E.) Day 5 – Tuesday, 21st March, 2017
6.) Convocation Lecture Topic:

Information To Graduating Students
Graduating students are to make a payment of Ten Thousand Naira [N 10,000.00] only, into the following specified bank:

Account Name: LASU Third Party

After payment, graduating students  are to present the receipt of their payments to  their respective Faculty Officers OR Secretary to the Postgraduate School, for Higher Degrees as the case may be to receive Invitation cards, Notice AND Convocation Package (The Convocation package comprises:-Convocation brochure (I copy each), Academic Gown and Leather Certificate Folder ).

Graduation Gowns are to be returned no later than March 27th, 2017. Failure to return the gown by the deadline will attract a penalty of Five Hundred Naira (N500)

On returning the convocation gown, graduating students a refundable fee of Two Thousand Naira (N2,000) only will returned to graduating students at the Bursary on the presentation of clearance, obtained at the Faculties.

Loss or damage to the gown will attract a sum of Ten Thousand, Three Hundred Naira [N 10,300;00] only as replacement fee.

Postgraduate Graduands (Ph.D Only) are required to pay a sum of Thirty- Five Thousand(N35,000:00) Naira only, into the above account number for procuring the University Academic Gown.

First degree graduating students are to position the tassels of their caps from right to left at a point during the ceremony, when the Vice Chancellor declares; “I admit you all”. This signifies their admission into the body of Graduates of Lagos State University (LASU). Higher degree recipients should put on their caps, with the tassels positioned at the left hand side, having already obtained first degrees.

Graduating students are to ask the assistance of Faculty officers to ensure they wear the hood and cap properly with the tassels (cords) of the cap positioned to the right. Female graduands are expected to show courtesy when they shake hands with the Vice-Chancellor, while male graduands are to bow, but should NOT remove their caps.

Invited Guests including Parents/Guardians are to be seated NOT later than 9.00 a.m. on each day.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY
All graduating students are to Join the Convocation Procession by 9.30a.m.
Graduating students in each faculty are to sit in the sections reserved  for them in the University Auditorium Complex.

Taking of photographs and unauthorized movements are not allowed during the ceremony. Please you are to do all that before coming into Auditorium. Once you leave the Auditorium, you will not be allowed back in till after the ceremony. This is to ensure orderliness

Graduands and invited Guests under the canopy outside the Auditorium are requested to be orderly and rise to their feet as the Academic Procession enters AND leaves the Convocation venue. Graduands should be properly robed; and are also advised to conform to the colour prescribed for their Faculties.

All graduands are required to immediately commence and complete the process of their clearance in their respective College/Schools/Faculties before the ceremony, in order to facilitate the collection of their degree certificates on the day of Convocation.
