The Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta (MAPOLY), has been upgraded to Moshood Abiola University of Science and Technology, Abeokuta, (MAUST).
This followed the signing of the bill in to law by the state Governor, Ibikunle Amosun during an executive council’s meeting.
The Governor equally signed another bill into law for the re-establishment of the Ogun State Polytechnic which will be sited in Ipokia-Yewa-Awori areas of ogun state.
The Governor said that the institutions would be multi-campus and equally stated that the state government will engage professionals and people of high knowledge who will provide technical guide.
He further commended the state House of Assembly for ensuring the timely and successful passage of the bills into law and assured that the relevant documents have been made ready and sent to the appropriate bodies.
Responding, the Speaker of the Ogun Assembly, Suraj Adekunbi said that the new development will create employment and open up tertiary education in the state.
