UNICAL Graduates 13, 347 Students At Its 30th Convocation Ceremony

The University of Calabar, UNICAL will at its 30th convocation ceremony which comes up on March 11th, 2017 produce a total of 22 first class graduates.

This was disclosed by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Professor Zana Akpagu, during a pre-convocation briefing on Thursday.

According to him, a total of 13, 347 students would be graduating from the institution; 1, 437 will be awarded post graduate certificates while 11, 910 would be awarded with first degrees.

A further breakdown revealed that in the postgraduate category, 300 would be getting their PhDs, 517 MSCs, 70 MAs, 130 MEds and 400 post graduate diplomas.

While in the first degree category,  7,400 were from the Humanities while 4,510 are from the Sciences. Among them, 22 got first class degrees, 2,408 second class upper degrees, 5,890 second class lower degrees, 2900 third class degrees, and 1,000 pass degrees. He however stated that the institution would soon phase out pass degrees.

It was gathered that the likes of Alhaji Umaru Kwabo, Sir Daniel Chukwudozie and Brig Gen Anthony Ukpo rtd would be awarded honorary doctorate degrees (honoris causa) during the ceremony.
