Is Jamb mock-exam compulsory for all candidates? This is one question that some candidates for the 2026 UTME have been asking. In this post, I will share with you all you need to know concerning that. To start with, the JAMB mock-exam is not compulsory. It is completely optional. It is not a requirement for writing the main exam.
If you decide not to take the mock-exam, it won’t stop you from writing the main exam. You may have heard one or two persons say that those who refused to take the mock-examination will not be allowed to participate in the main examination. This is not true. The truth is that even if you don’t take the Jamb mock-exam, you will be 100% allowed to write the Jamb UTME 2026. Another thing is that your score in the mock-exam doesn’t add to your score in the main Jamb examination as some candidates believe.
However, despite the fact that the it is not compulsory, it may help some candidates who may not be familiar with the use of computers or CBT as it will help their confidence as well as help them get familiar with JAMB CBT settings before the main exam.
Meanwhile, whether you will be writing the mock-exam or not, the First Class learners JAMB CBT App for the 2026 JAMB exam will provide you with a similar experience. We have a periodic mock challenge on the app which allows candidates to test themselves, compete with other candidates, get familiar with the CBT environment, improve themselves and prepare adequately for the main exam. To participate in the JAMB mock-exam, interested candidates were advised to indicate their interest in to participate in it during their JAMB registration. So only candidates that indicated an interest in writing it are qualified to take it. But like is said earlier whether or not you write the mock exam, it does not affect the main exam because it is not compulsory.
