JAMB announces best performing institutions at its performance merit award

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disclosed the top five performing tertiary institutions. This was disclosed by the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu,  at JAMB’s second edition of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance Merit Award in Abuja.

It was gathered that five Universities who emerged winners in the board’s five categories for the awards would take home N75 million each.

The institutions and the awards won

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) – Most Subscribed Institution

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU)  – Most National Institution in Admission of Candidates.

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) – Institution with the Highest Number of Admitted International Students

Federal University, Wukari (FUWUKARI) – the Most Improved institution in Gender Balance

Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbese – Most compliant Institution in keeping to guidelines of admissions.

The minister, while congratulating the winners, commended the efforts of the JAMB towards ensuring excellence in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.

He also challenged the runner’s up and other institutions to rise to the occasion at the next edition to give the present winners a healthy fight.

    My teacher once said, “it’s not about how many students a school admit ot how many beautiful structures they have. It’s about how well a school indulge knowledge into students”. University of Ibadan is the best.

      Just say it straight away, “UI is the best”. Don’t beat around the bush. You UI students feel as if there is no other university that can beat UI. The sooner you accept the truth, the better.

      The was the former vc of unilorin…so what do you expect, a school that upheld his Islamic standards. Why giving award based on those …..why not on academic performance….so even if a school is not good enough, as far as she can admit enough student….they are the best according to the above
