1. Entering Incorrect Name and Date of Birth
One major mistake is providing the wrong name, date of birth, during registration. Make sure your name is in the same order as it appears on your birth certificate, WAEC/NECO result, and other official documents. Also, some candidates enter their names in the wrong order, which can cause issues with admission processing. For example, if your name on your birth certificate is “Ikechukwu Okeke David”, it should appear exactly the same way on your JAMB registration.
Solution: Double-check your details before submitting your registration. Ensure that your name matches your official documents such as your birth certificate, WAEC/NECO result, and national ID. Note that mistake in name , date of birth cannot be changed after registration.
2. Choosing the Wrong Subject Combination
Some candidates select the wrong subject combination for their chosen course, which can affect their chances of getting admission.
Solution: Before you register, verify the correct JAMB subject combination for your course. We have compiled the JAMB Subject Combinations
3. Ignoring the Registration Guidelines
Some candidates do not read the official JAMB guidelines and end up making costly mistakes. The guidelines contains step by step detailed information on the registration process.
Solution: Take your time to carefully read and understand the registration guidelines before starting your registration. check the guidelines at this link: 2025 JAMB Form Details Are Out – See all registration instructions.
4. Registering at an Unapproved CBT Center
Registering at unofficial cybercafés or unapproved centers can lead to fraud, mistakes, or invalid registration. Ensure you use a JAMB approved registration centre to avoid unnecessary stories at the end of the day.
Solution: Only register at JAMB-accredited CBT centers to ensure that your information is correctly captured. For List of Approved CBT Centres, SEE 2025 JAMB APPROVED CBT REGISTRATION CENTRES
5. Using an Incorrect or Inaccessible Email Address
Your email is essential for receiving JAMB updates and login in to the JAMB Admission portal as well as other JAMB services. Some candidates use an email they no longer have access to or enter it incorrectly.
Solution: Use an active email address that you check regularly. Also, ensure you type it correctly during registration.
6. Not Capturing Fingerprints Properly
JAMB requires biometric verification for registration and examination. If your fingerprint is not properly captured, you may be unable to write the exam.
Solution: Ensure that your fingerprint is successfully scanned at the CBT center. If there is any issue, ask for assistance immediately.
7. Failing to Print Your Confirmation Slip
After registration, some candidates forget to print their confirmation/acknowledgment slip, which is required for future reference. It is important that you collect your registration slip as it contains your JAMB registration number and it is a proof that you actually registered for the exam.
Solution: Ask the CBT centre to printyour confirmation slip immediately after registration. Ensure you collect it and keep it safe.
8. Registering Multiple Times
Some candidates make the mistake of registering more than once because they made a mistake in the first registration, they quickly create another profile code and use it to register for another registration. Once you do this, you will be disqualified
Solution: Ensure you take all necessary steps to avoid mistakes but if you end up making mistakes like wrong subjects combination, course or school, Just wait for JAMB to open the portal for correction so you can correct it instead of registering again.
