NUC List Of Approved Universities For Postgraduate Programmes

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has noticed that some Nigerian universities are running unapproved postgraduate (Masters and PhD degrees).

The Commission has also observed that some Parastatals and Institutes are awarding these same Postgraduate degrees, either on their own or through unapproved affiliations with Nigerian and foreign Universities.

The commission hereby states that such practices are both unethical and antithetical to time-tested quality assurance best practices. Consequently, the qualifications/ awards resulting from such are not recognized..

Currently, Nigeria has 170 universities, 43 are federal, 48 are state-owned while 79 are privately owned. Out of the 43 federal universities, 32 are approved by the commission for postgraduate programmes.
