Post-UTME Screening 2025: Will schools write exam?

Many candidates have been asking questions concerning whether or not their schools of choice will ask candidates to write an exam as part of the Post-UTME screening exercise for the 2025/2026 admission exercise. It is true that in 2016 the Minister of Education banned the conduct of Post-UTME in schools which saw the introduction of the point system. However, most schools still went ahead to conduct Post-UTME aptitude test/exam.

According to the management of these schools, the conduct of the post UTME aptitude test makes it possible for them to effectively choose the right candidates for admission.

Recently, some students of the University of Ibadan were asked to withdraw from the university due to their poor academic performances and observation showed that this set of students were among those admitted in 2016 when the university did not conduct Post-UTME screening exam/aptitude test.

Now back to the questions on whether your school of choice will conduct the Post-UTME aptitude test this year, here’s what you should know;

Most universities will likely conduct written Post-UTME Aptitude test this year with the exception of very few of them; majorly private universities.

Some polytechnics and Colleges of education may decide not to conduct the test.

The bottom line, however, is that many schools will still conduct aptitude test/exam this year. So if you’ve not started preparing for your school’s aptitude test, better start now. Once JAMB announces the cut-off mark for 2025, most schools will start releasing their post-UTME Screening form and there may not be enough time for you to prepare for the aptitude test.
