ASUU Strike Continues As Lecturers Walk Out Of Meeting With FG

The meeting between Federal Government and Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) last Monday ended in deadlock again. It was gathered that the ASUU delegates stormed out of the meeting. With this development, the ongoing strike may not end any time soon as earlier announced by the Minister of Labour and employment, Dr Chris Ngige.

It was learnt that when the ASUU delegation arrived at the ministry at exactly 5:00 p.m.  no member of the federal government delegation was around. However, the government delegation led by the Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige, later arrived at exactly 6:00 p.m.

The ASUU President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, who wore a sad face while leaving the venue of the meeting refused to comment on the reason for walking out of the meeting.

As at the time of filing this report, neither ASUU or the office of the Minister of Labour and Employment has made any official statement on this.
