The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has explained that the there is no deadline yet for the 2017 JAMB change of course and institution as the process will still be on until the end of the 2017/2018 admission process.
The JAMB’s Head of information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, made this known while interacting with newsmen.
He said it is wrong for candidates to think that the process will close any time soon and advised them not to panic but rather take their time to make the decision of the suitable course and institution to change to that will give them a good chance of securing admission.
He emphasized that the process is a continuous exercise which JAMB does not intend to close now until the whole admission process has been concluded.
According to him, there are moments whereby candidates who chose particular institution will not have opportunity to be admitted in such institution and another institution may be in the position to offer such candidates them admission.
If the process of change of course and institution happen to have closed by then, it means that such candidates will not have the choice to change to the institution(s) that wish to offer them admission.
He equally mentioned that the board wants to also avoid the case whereby candidates will have multiple admission.
If a candidate for instance choose University of Lagos and later consider YABATECH, the statistics will reflect the second choice.
He further mentioned that this will help strengthened JAMB statistics. So that when JAMB is giving account of admission of candidates, an accurate statistics will be presented and not a distorted data like in previous years.
Benjamin explained that the process of change of courses and institutions could be done with the payment of N2, 500 in JAMB Computer Based Tests (CBT) centres and at other approved centres.
He therefore, advised candidates who wished to change their choice of course or institution to think properly, before doing so to avoid irregularities.
