JAMB gives update on underage candidates UTME results for 2026

The JAMB has addressed concerns from parents and candidates regarding the “No Result Yet” status currently displayed for some UTME results. According to the Board, results for underage candidates have not been released. As such, any affected candidate attempting to check their result will continue to see the message “No Result Yet.”

JAMB reiterated that only candidates who will be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026, are eligible to sit for the UTME. However, underage candidates may still be considered under the Board’s exceptional candidate policy.

Under this provision, such candidates must demonstrate outstanding academic ability by scoring at least 320 in the UTME and achieving a minimum of 80% in subsequent screening stages. In line with prior agreements with parents and stakeholders, only those who meet the 320 score benchmark are shortlisted for further consideration.

The Board has now begun contacting underage candidates who meet this requirement. According to JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, messages have been sent to qualified candidates informing them that their details have been forwarded to their chosen institutions for the next stage of assessment.

Candidates who receive this notification are expected to proceed with further screening at their selected institutions, which will evaluate them and report back to the Board. They are also advised to ensure their O-level results are uploaded to the JAMB portal.

JAMB emphasized that admission under this category is strictly for exceptional candidates who successfully pass all stages of the screening process.

Until the process is fully concluded, results of all underage candidates will remain unreleased. The Board urged stakeholders to remain patient, noting that the policy endorsed by the Federal Ministry of Education is designed to ensure that only candidates with the required maturity and academic capability are admitted into tertiary institutions.
